I suppose the sinuses and upper nose are kept warmer and happier as well. Using these for extreme winter hiking in wind and snow conditions and realize I am suffering lots less now from such conditions. Wind driven snow or freezing rain in the eyes was the big aggravation of my winter hiking. So long, Baby! I love winter hiking more now. I've only had them up on the mountain 2-3 times but I really like them. They are very comfortable. Also, the Vermillion tint works well in both sunny and overcast conditions. The tint is a little on the 'lite' side which makes sunny days a little bright but makes it possible to see everything on those cloudy days.
