I took this book on a mountain biking tour of Oregon and discovered that while it does lead you to a few staple cross country rides, it is missing most of the best riding that Oregon offers. Knowledgeable Oregon mountain bikers wouldn’t choose most of these trails as noteworthy. Where are the the long epic rides? Why is there so much road riding in here? Plus, “Rails to Trails” isn’t mountain biking, that stuff is flat. The Oakridge area isn’t even mentioned! He doesn’t include any freeride or downhill trails like Black Rock Park, etc. The system of trail description is well conceived and the writing is fine, but they should do new research and revise this book.
