A scuba diving computer, which is better known as a dive computer, is a digital device that can do the task of managing nitrogen without requiring the diver to have a watch or dive table. As a combination of a timer and a depth gauge plus some intelligent software that helps to compute absorption of gases, the scuba diving computer is a popular device that is used by most experienced divers.

It is very necessary for the diver to know about remaining nitrogen as well as decompression and this may also be done by manual dive tables, but the scuba diving computer is much more valuable as it can greatly improve the dive experience through automation of the management of nitrogen.

In reality, the scuba diving computer will not plan a dive for the scuba diver, who is still solely responsible for correct and safe planning in conformance with health guidelines. What Happens

We’ve probably all heard the advice ‘find a job you love and you’ll never have to work again’ or variations on it.  Every year hundreds of scuba diving enthusiasts make this dream a reality by training up for a job in the industry. There are a wide variety of jobs available including police divers, military divers, technical wreck diving, and professional search and rescue divers, but the following are probably the most popular and logical choices for a recreational diver wishing to make a career of their hobby.

Divemaster/guide.  Divemasters assist instructors with classes, lead certified divers on guided tours and conduct scuba reviews courses for certified divers. Depending on their training level they may also teach some specialty courses such as wreck diving, or underwater photography. The route to this job varies slightly according to the organisation you train with. PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) for example requires certified divers to take an advanced course and then train to be a rescue diver. Once you’ve achieved these qualifications you can sign up to train as a Divemaster. At the time you start training you’ll need at least 20 logged dives.

Scuba diving Instructor. Once you are a qualified divemaster you can start Instructor development training. Again training requirements may vary but using PADI as an example, you can start training if you have a divemaster qualification, at least 60 logged dives and have been a certified diver for at least six moths.  You will progress to become an assistant instructor and then a fully qualified open water scuba instructor. You’ll need to log at least 100 dives by the end of this training. As an instructor you’ll be qualified to teach and certify new divers and will have the opportunity to continue your scuba education in whichever direction you choose.  You can train to teach specialty courses such as wreck diving, underwater naturalism, or search and rescue, or even become an Instructor trainer.  Read more...

Scuba refers to Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. Air assisted underwater exploration was first born around the 1700′s when scuba pioneers used dive bells and sealed suits whilst air was pumped from the surface. However, this was a luxury available to a handful of pioneers. 

It is only with the advancement in technologies that people were able to explore the seas using self contained underwater breathing apparatus.

The break came in the 1960′s following years of research and experimental testing by the legendary Jacques-Yves Cousteau for which the aqualung was developed hence sport diving was made accessible to people like you and me.

Scuba diving gear continued to evolve later within the 1970′s and scuba systems were enhanced by the introduction of buoyancy compensation devices, improved valves and pressure gauges. Through these technological advances, scuba diving has ballooned as a recreational sport. Scuba systems have since been improving through Engineering and innovation in design to provide safer, reliable and more comfortable equipment.

For this reason scuba diving is ever so gaining popularity and is today established as one of the greatest outdoor recreational activities and as a result has become a multimillion dollar industry.
