Scuba diving ? An Introduction

Scuba Diving

When Human started to travel he found  “wheels” and this gave birth to Tourism. But when he reached the Sea, He thought that was the end of world. But Diving paved the way to explore another world under beneath the water. He started learning life under sea and started to learn techniques to stay under water for long time. That was back in 100 B.C, To reduce pressure divers would pour oil into their ears and mouths before diving into sea. Leonardo da Vinci has dreamt about a device which would help man to breathe under water for more than an hour. So the quest of a device urged in minds of several scientists that made to invent Scuba.

Scuba – Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, is a form of underwater diving in which a diver uses a scuba set to breathe underwater for recreation or commercial purpose. Scuba divers carry their own source of oxygen gas for breathing, Which allows them to surf under water for a long time. Usually all diver wears these equipment on his back and swims underwater with a special dress with fins on the feet which is easy for mobility in the water as same as fish fins.

The History of Scuba Diving

Scuba diving has  mainly designed and created  for  the purpose in world wars. In those days the  soldiers used to wear scuba diving equipment and they were called a frogman. Emile Gagnan and Jacques-Yves Cousteau developed the first successful and commercial scuba sets were the Aqualung open-circuit units, in which compressed gas in tank which was used for inhaled and then exhaled into the water, and this system of scuba is still most popular today.

Cross Country Ski Introduction

Cross-country skiing is a fun way to take in the beautiful back-country trails in winter with your family.

What It Is and Where You Can Do It

I relish winter snow blanketing the landscape. Luckily, I’ve found a sport that allows me to get exercise and travel on skis without skiing downhill at a resort with lift lines. There exist downhill ski resorts that have a separate area of trails for Nordic skiers. The term “Nordic” covers not only cross-country, but telemark and ski jumping.

These are trails that are usually groomed creating a flat, grooved surface. The pattern will usually appear like giant corduroy fabric. The advantage of a groomed trail is that you will glide completely on top of the snowpack while the groove directs you. If you go on an ungroomed trail you will still be able to ski it. At times you may sink in it some, but you can move forward through it. You don’t tend to sink much into snow because your weight is distributed over your skis.

This activity is family-friendly. Infants and toddlers can ride in a backpack or sled. Grandparents can go as it is almost like a gentle walk. Teenagers can go fast with the skate ski technique. Even your family dog can run along as some Nordic Centers welcome them.

With over 350 cross-country ski areas in North America there may well be one near you. This sport uses natural movements and has a rather short learning curve. The biggest challenge for a beginner is to maintain your balance while shuffling along–think standing with ice skates.

Introduction To Mountain Biking

Mountain biking is a great way to explore the outdoors, stay in shape, or just have fun. Racing down the side of a mountain is a lot of fun indeed, although it can also be quite dangerous. Even though it’s dangerous, if you ride with caution, it can be enjoyed by the entire family.

Styles of mountain biking Mountain biking can best be characterized into three different styles – downhill, free riding, and cross country. Even though the different styles are similar in some ways, they still require different skills. The style that you pick will determine the type of bike you get.

Locations for mountain biking The sport can best be thought of as biking on an unpaved surface. Many areas throughout North America have specific locations designed for mountain biking. Before you decide to go down a trail, you should always check with your local park to get the routes, regulations, and any rules that they may have.

You can also find groups that have mountain bike rides and competitions. You can look on the internet or even in a local paper and see exactly what’s available in your area. You may be able to find groups for the more advanced riders as well as beginners.

Becoming a great biker Endurance and stamina are a must for a great mountain biker. It will also take ambition and practice to succeed as well as conquer the course. Like all other sports, it takes time and practice. Those just beginning will have to get past the bumps and bruises from falling off the bike.

Selecting your mountain bike The bike you select is more of a personal choice, and a big determining factor on the type of riding you will be doing. Bikes come in all styles, shapes, and prices, which will make selecting one for yourself very difficult indeed.

An Introduction To Surfing

Surfing is a kind of water sports where the surfer is carried along by a breaking wave towards the shore. Apart from surfboards body boards, kneeboards, surf skis and kayaks can be also used to surf. Various sports involving surfing are sea kayaking, paddle boarding, kite surfing and windsurfing. The first two do not require waves and winds, while the other two does. Surfing has become more of a profession by turning into a multi-billion dollar industry.

Initially the sport began when people used to lie down on hard wood boards and surf in Hawaii. Lieutenant James King who wrote journals on Captain Cook and completed them after his death set the first record. The surfboards were made out of huge and heavy wood, which were difficult to maneuver. They were substituted by lighter balsa wood surfboards in 1940s and were relatively easy to maneuver by the surfer. The boards were later made out of polyurethane foam, polyester resin and fiberglass cloth with multiple layers of wooden strips. The latest technology in surfboards now is the epoxy or carbon fiber surfboard. To surf in colder regions, its advisable to wear wetsuits, boots, gloves and hood to protect from cold-water temperatures, which can sometimes lead to hypothermia. There are different styles of boards like egg or the long board style short board, fish or short and wide board with a split tail and gun with a long pointed board meant for big waves.

Swell is important for surfing. When the wind blows over a huge area of water, called the wind’s fetch, the water wave rises, called the swell. The stronger the wind is the more the swell. Surfers can find the perfect spot where there is a low pressure system being experienced by a large coastline. A moderate strength offshore wind can form a perfect wave without small breaks. The topography of the seabed beneath the wave also affects the wave formed.
