Is a Kick Scooter Safer Than a Kids Electric Scooter

You are searching avidly online for a kick scooter for either your child or as a gift for someone else. During your search you keep running across some cheap electric scooters but you’re questioning the safety of motor scooters. Let me make this clear – less speed does not equal a safer ride. Ask any parent with a child that rides a skateboard; jumps, grabs, flips and rail riding (a.k.a. “grinding”) are just a few risky skateboarding maneuvers exercised on a board no quicker than a kick scooter. In no uncertain terms, the kick scooter can essentially do similar tricks. The metal surface provides an excellent support for grinding and its light aluminum frame is easily hoisted into the air for jumps.

In contrast, kids electric scooters can actually be safer due to the construction. To support and protect the electric motor and batteries, electric motor scooters are normally made out of thicker aluminum. Consequently, there is an increase in weight and rigidity, which will be discussed later in detail. This is not to say that “electric scooters are safer than kick scooters” but the heavy bulk of electric motor scooters limits certain tricks. For instance, jumps, grinds, and flips are dramatically (if not completely) limited due to the weight of electric motor and batteries.

Take for example, the X-Treme X-140 that is restricted to 10 mph but noticeably slower with a load and terrain. It weighs nearly 20 lbs and at full throttle is equivalent to a light jog. The average weight of a six-year old child ranges between 35-40 lbs, meaning that these cheap electric scooters weigh about half the child’s weight. The beginner electric motor scooters, such as the X-140, offer a safe speed at which kids can have fun. The important safety measures to remember is wearing protective gear, such as helmets and pads that will protect your child no matter what they ride.

Four Guidelines to Facilitate Shopping for Kids Skis

Skiing

Everyone seems to enjoy skiing today. Both adults and children equally adore this outdoors activity. Anything that pertains to a child needs a little more seriousness. For that reason, if you will be buying kids skis soon, it is okay to be cautious about it. These items are much more difficult to choose than adults’. The following simple guidelines could make the process easier for you.

Look for beginner junior skis – If your child will be skiing for the first time this winter, they will also be learning how to use their ski gear. Mountain skis are much safer for children or any beginners. According to previous users, any child can walk in them conveniently. The most appropriate item must equal the length between your child’s foot and head. Note that modern junior skis do not necessary feature the same design. Some newer models are even shorter in length and have a padded shape. Perhaps if your kid goes skiing with these now, next winter he or she might demand a different style for racing.

Consider your child’s body size – A child’s height and weight matters a lot when picking a comfortable ski for him or her. This is even more important if your child skiing skill is not very good. Get him or her a lighter ski so that he or she can develop a special liking for the sports. At first, children go skiing for fun just like a few adults. Fortunately, some of them end up becoming experts. The attitude your child might develop after his first experience could influence his or her future interest in skiing sport.

Discover the Health Benefits of Surf Camps for Kids

Did you know approximately 10 million kids go to camp each year? A positive summer camp experience can mean everything to a child. Sending your kids to camp is part of the American way of life. When you think of camp, you probably think of roasting marshmallows around the campfire and singing songs. But there is more to the camp experience than that!

Many people seem to considering surfing summer camps in addition to, or as alternative for, traditional summer camps. Surfing (or surf) camps offer all the important benefits that traditional camps offer, such as the opportunity to make new friends and increase self-confidence and esteem. But surf camps offer something more: incredible health benefits for kids.

Not only is surfing a total blast and easily learned with a qualified instructor, but when kids go to surf camp, they get a total body workout from cardiovascular exercise to arm and leg strength to learning how to increase their balance.

When kids paddle out on their surfboards toward the ocean to catch a wave, they are developing upper body strength (including their arms, chest and shoulders), plus they are getting a nice cardiovascular workout.

Then, when they are actually surfing, they are using their leg muscles and developing important balance skills.

There are several sites on the Internet to find surf camps for your kids. You can do a general search for “kids surf camps” on Google. Or, or you can visit a site-specific search engine like Surf Camp Search.com where you will find many available surf camps for kids and teens everywhere in the United States and abroad.

It doesn’t matter if your child is a beginning surfer or experienced and learning to pick up tips from a pro, there’s a safe and fun surf camp out there for you…plus, the health benefits can’t be denied!
