This is a little articl i have made about a couple of the places you can ski in Norway It sais that the Norwegians are born with skiis on their leggs. So they must probably have a pair of fine places. Here are a quantity of of the favourites: Trysil Trysil is the most well-liked senter for skiiing in Norway, and the biggest if you count the amount of pists and lifts. They maintain a large focus on security and the balance involving all kinds of slopes. Trysil has 32 lifts and 65 pists. Oppdal Oppdal is close to E6 (the highway through Norway), and is not far off from 190 miles south of Trondheim. This is a place for you if you hunger to ride in the slopes, offpiste or truly like to march on skiis. All the lifts are over 4 unlike mountaintopps. Many of the slopes are faced to the south – prefect for you if you’ll like a tan in the young summer. Oppdal has 17 lifts and 39 pists. Hemsedal There are other places with more lifts and longer slopes, but Hemsedal is more compelte as it comes to other offers aswell, like afterskii, entertainments and resturants. This makes Hemsedal to the generally complete skiplace in Norway. Hemsedal has 22 lifts and 39 pists. Stranda National Geographic believed that the norwegian fjords are one of the most excellent places to travell to in the world. Close to the most well-liked “Geiranger fjorden” is one of the most superb mountains for downhill skiing in Norway. Are you one of those who likes offpist is Stranda the most excellent place north of the Alphs. Here the mountains are very steep, it is alot of snow and the view over the fjords are magical. But if you are one of those who likes it most excellent in the slopes or is gonna travel with your people, there would probably be better alternatives in Norway than Stranda. Stranda has 5 lifts and roughly speaking 10 pists. Hafjell and Kvitfjell Hafjell and Kvitfjell is not far off from 30 miles north of Lillehammer, and not far off from 3 hours with a car from Oslo. Since OL in Lillehammer in 1994 have these two places developed alot. In Hafjell and Kvitfjell there is slopes for the whole family and for all skill levels. There are 5 places around Lillehammer which all uses the “Ski Resorts Ski Pass” This is a liftpass that allowes you to travell freely linking all those 5 places. This will make you a entire access to 43 lifts and 66 slopes. Varingskollen Varingskollen is about 32 miles from Oslo. this is one of the best places in Norway if you like big jumps and railes etc, they also hosts alots of entertainment and competitions. Unfortantly there is not much else to Varingskollen than this. Varingskollen has 5 lifts and about 5 slopes. All in all, I would say Norway is a great place to travel if you want a ski vecation, there is also alot of other things to see in Norway, like the fjords and the mountains.

When you compare skiing and snowboarding you have to take every aspect of the two into consideration. When skiing, you have two boards (one for both feet) and two poles (one for both hands). You ski with your body going straight down the mountain. When snowboarding all you have is one big board that is attached to both of your feet, and you are going sideways down the mountain. When you ski the boards and the poles help in keeping yourself balanced while going down the hill, but when you snowboard you have to balance yourself because your feet are not as free.

Most of the time, the older generation skis, while the younger generation snowboards. There are more snowboarding competitions than there are skiing ones. Snowboarding seems more as a competitive sport than skiing, because when you ski it is more relaxing and slow paced. Snowboarders tend to go off big jumps and do a lot of tricks while the skiers stay grounded most of the time, but not always. Skiing is the safer of the two because of the fact that your legs are separated and you have two poles to help keep yourself up.

When you snowboard you only have your hands to catch yourself but your legs will be more bound. When skiing, you are always more upright but when snowboarding you have to be more crouched down to help balance. It is much easier to get up after a fall when you are snowboarding. They are both fun, but a lot different than each other.

Skiing accidents may happen even at the best resorts. If you have adequate knowledge about the types of accidents that may happen while skiing, then you can avoid the accidents. The common types of accidents are as follows:

Collision: This is one of the most common types of accident in skiing, where one skier collides with another skier and face head or facial injuries.

Ski lift: Sometimes accidents may happen due to poorly maintained ski lifts. However, ski lifts will be designed with highest safety measure only. But repetitive use by large number of skiers may damage the safety measures of the lift and may cause accidents. Ski lift accidents occur when the skier is loading or unloading. The ski lift operator will be held liable for the accident caused due to poor maintenance of lift.

Ski falls: Ski falls may occur due to improperly designed or maintained slope. The ski area operator should therefore take care of designing, maintaining and operating their slopes.

Ski instructor’s negligence: Ski instructors should be careful in teaching both the people and ski school students. If he is negligent in providing safety instructions or falsely encouraging a student to do a blind jump, then there are chances of getting ski accidents. Ski instructor is also responsible to take care of the ski school students. He should not go for over challenging terrain. Such faults of ski instructor often lead to severe injuries to the students.

Skiing vehicles: Skiing vehicles are used through out the day in the ski area. The speed of the ski vehicle often causes accidents in skiing. It may cause severe injuries or even death. A collision in the ski area vehicle will also cause accidents.

Most of the ski accidents occur due to carelessness of the instructor or the skier only. Skiing will provide you lot of fun. However, it will turn to be dangerous if the skier has no experience and careless. The following tips will help you to avoid ski accidents.

* Most of the skiers are likely to meet accidents in the evening when the sky becomes darker and when the skier becomes tired. The skier should therefore finish skiing before it gets dark and extremely cold.

* Most of the head injuries happen in skiing since most of the skiers are not wearing head helmets.

* You should avoid the people in front of you while skiing. Do not try to overtake them.

* Use ski braces that will help you to avoid severe injuries when you fall.

* Get clear knowledge of using ski lifts.

* If there is any warning sign, be careful about it.

* Skiers may face fractures in hand, collar bone and legs. In order to avoid fractures, skier should do physical exercises before 1 month of skiing, which will strengthen the muscles.

* Selecting a correct run on skiing is important to avoid accidents. If you select a run that is too high to your level, then there are chances of accidents.

* Though some situations like improper maintenance of equipments may call for ski accidents, most of the situations are under your control only. Be careful in following the safety instructions and enjoy skiing.

Utah is a great place to take a skiing vacation, regardless of your skiing abilities or experience. With a number of world class ski resorts, Utah boasts some of North America’s best skiing, and prides itself on having ‘the best snow on earth’. But don’t take my word for it – get out there and experience the magic of skiing in Utah for yourself! With such high quality resorts, and truly amazing snow coverage and texture, Utah is an excellent location for your skiing vacation.

If you’re looking for a choice of resorts, but you don’t want to venture too far from home, Utah is definitely the place for you. Its fine, powdery snow can be experienced through most of the year, and you’d be simply mad not to visit Utah at some point if you’re a skiing enthusiast like me. One of the premier resorts in Utah is the Deer Valley Resort. In 2005, Ski Magazine voted Deer Valley as the best resort in the whole of North America, and it is easy to see why. The sheer quality of skiing to be had, combined with the breathtaking surrounding and facilities that are second to none, makes Deer Valley a connoisseurs choice. And what’s better, it feels a million miles away, yet it is only a short difference from the bustle of Salt Lake City. The resort itself has over 20 ski lifts to ensure queues are kept to an absolute minimum, and it is more than reasonably priced for the quality of the skiing.

Another of Utah’s most cherished resorts is Powder Mountain. The haunt of the local skiers, Powder Mountain is relatively undiscovered in comparison to the other resorts, although it is just as good in terms of facilities. In fact, it is thought to be one of the best resorts if you are looking for value for money, and with an ideal climate, it really is the perfect place to host your skiing vacation. With only 7 ski lifts, Powder Mountain is a much smaller ski resort, but that doesn’t mean it’s not as good! If anything, you are likely to benefit from fewer skiers, meaning you have more slope to yourself! Powder Mountain is famous for its atmosphere, which just smacks of traditional Utah spirit and friendliness. And that’s not to mention its impressive dedicated skiing school, which provides lessons from some of the state’s most experienced skiing experts, all at very reasonable prices. With nightly grooming, and slopes available to meet all ability standards, Powder Mountain has certainly earned its reputation as a world class ski resort without the crowds, and is truly one of Utah’s best kept secrets.

So if you are looking for a great skiing vacation to go with you family, or if you are looking for somewhere to hone your skills, you really couldn’t do better than Utah. Combining both world class accommodation and restaurants, with perfect natural skiing conditions, Utah is perceived as one of America’s best skiing states, and it is easy to see why with it’s beautiful, thick, powder snow. With its depth and quality of resorts, there’s something for everyone, and you will be sure to enjoy your vacation, like the millions of enthusiasts before you, that have chosen Utah for their skiing break.

Skiing is one of the most interesting and exciting sport which provides the skiers constant exhilaration and memorable moments. Skiing involves the use of skis which are attached to the boots of the skier. The skier slides on the snow with the help of these skis. He does this by balancing himself or herself skilfully.

Skiing is a hobby for millions of people around the world. A lot of passionate skiers have also taken this up as a professional sport taking part in various skiing competitions all around the world. The excitement of skiing is unmatched and has to be experienced to be believed.

The telemark turn is one of the skiing techniques. This technique was made popular by Sondre Norheim and is also referred to as the “free heel skiing”. Skiing using this technique is called telemark skiing. Similar to the cross country skiing, the skis are connected by the ski binding only to the toes of the skier’s boots. While performing the telemark turn, the skier’s heel is kept flat on the outer surface of the ski. The skier keeps his heel raised and his knees flexed to pull the inside ski beneath his body.

Skis are positioned parallel to each other and the body weight is mostly on the outer ski. This again depends on the condition of the snow.

Norheim was the one who popularized the telemark skiing technique which he displayed with the help of his fluid movements and turns in a ski jumping competition in the year 1868.

Telemark skiing technique is named after the region of Norway called Telemark. Telemark skiing practice was revived in the 1970s in the United States. Revival of this technique also brought about the revival of traditional ski clothing. In spite of its growing popularity telemark skiing is still considered by many to be a minority sport.

Skis used in telemark skiing are similar to the ones used in alpine skiing. Skis in general have become shorter and wider as compared to the longer skis of those days. Even though the telemark technique actually needs skis modified to suit its technique the need for this modification is not prominent due to the advancement in the boot and binding technologies.

Skis used for telemark skiing are still especially available in a lot of shops though. These are shorter and much lighter as compared to the alpine skis.

The duckbill at the front of a telemark shoe interfaces the binding with the boots. During the telemark turn, the skier uses the same turn as in the parallel turn. The main difference in the telemark turn is to turn the ski which is outside and trailing the ski which is on the inside.

Skier has to edge the outer ski with a flat heel during a turn and lift the heel which is on the inside ski to adjust his stance. Skiers who are experienced make sure their torsos are positioned in a vertical manner. This enables them to balance in such a way that they do not turn too much or too far. This makes sure they have greater control and maneuverability.
